Samsung Galaxy Unpacked February 2023: What to expect and how to watch it
The first Samsung event of 2023 has been officially announced and is expected to launch the much-awaited Galaxy S23 series along with other Samsung products. Of course, many are interested in the release date and official price of the phones. In this article, we’ll tell you how to watch the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event and what you can expect from it.
Unlike in recent years, Samsung will host an in-person Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, February 1 at 10:00 AM PT (6:00 PM UK; 11:30 PM India).
The event will take place at Mason Auditorium in San Francisco and will be streamed live on Samsung’s YouTube channel, Samsung.com and the company’s Newsroom portal.
The Galaxy S23 series will be launched at Galaxy Unpacked 2023
We already have a pretty good idea of the improvements the Galaxy S23 series will bring. One of those upgrades is a new 200MP primary camera for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which should offer significantly better low-light performance and zoom capabilities. The S23 Ultra will use pixel stacking technology to offer three different resolutions: 12MP, 50MP and 200MP.
The design of the base Galaxy S23 and S23+ will be slightly updated, but the S23 Ultra will retain the overall design of its predecessor. Official images leaked on Germany’s WinFuture site show the devices. The look is very similar from the front, but you can see the new camera design on the back.
All Galaxy S23 models will get the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in all regions; Samsung ditches Exynos due to its consistently poor performance compared to Snapdragon. This is good news for buyers in Europe and India, who usually buy Exynos variants of Samsung flagships.
According to the leaks, the S23+ and S23 Ultra will have 256GB of main storage and all models will start with 8GB of RAM. The technical specifications of all three models have been leaked in full on Twitter.
Pricing information isn’t concrete yet, but insiders say the phones will cost the same as the Galaxy S22 series, at least in the US; there may be a price increase in other regions. The leaks suggest four color options: Phantom Black, Cotton Flower, Botanic Green and Misty Lilac.
What else could we see?
Along with the Galaxy S23 series, we’ll probably see the Galaxy Book 3 series as well. We know this because Samsung is offering up to $100 in store credit if you reserve an unspecified Galaxy Book laptop and Galaxy smartphone from its official website.
Rumors suggest that Samsung will introduce a new “Ultra” class of Galaxy Book, namely Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. Given the ambition of the Ultra brand, we expect the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra to be the best Windows laptop of 2023, but that’s for reviewers to judge better.
Once pre-orders open, you’ll be able to use your Samsung store credit to lower the price of your new Galaxy phone and laptop, in addition to getting a gift bundle like the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro or Galaxy Watch 5. If having a laptop isn’t your thing, you can always reserve a Galaxy smartphone and get a $50 credit instead.
The best of Samsung is almost here
Samsung releases new products throughout the year, and its Galaxy S series gets the most attention. If you’re a hobbyist or looking to upgrade to a new phone, be sure to check out the Galaxy Unpacked event in February to see all the improvements Samsung has been working on behind the scenes.
In addition to the S23 series, we’re also looking forward to seeing other Samsung products this year, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, Galaxy A54 and more.
