Best Price Refurbished Sony WF-1000XM4?
A model for continuing prestige
The Sony WF-1000XM4 has the tough task of doing better than the Sony WF-1000XM3, the first headphone with active noise cancellation. To once again prove itself in true wireless headphones, Sony has made some improvements, starting with the design. After that we have a box with a flattened top. The rest are rounded. The Japanese giant opted for a fairly massive design, but this does not compromise its elegance and ergonomics.
Compared to the previous generation, the Sony WF-1000XM4 case is 40% smaller. The earcups have also been improved to be 10% smaller. If the tips of the Sony WF-1000XM3 are made of silicone, the tips of the XM4 are made of polyurethane foam. Firmer yet comfortable, this material effectively contributes to passive noise reduction thanks to better insulation than silicone.
Ultra-premium sound quality
Sony has made a number of optimizations to keep its main competitors at bay. The headphones now have two microphones, one directed outward to pick up ambient noise, and the other directed inward to analyze audio feedback. With these improvements alone, the Sony WF-1000XM4’s active noise cancellation is 40% more effective than the already sensational XM3. The integration of the popular V1 chip basically does its job.
To customize the audio, Sony offers the Headphones Connect app, which is compatible with Android and iOS. That said, the default settings for these headphones are great. Sony chose to prioritize the bass with the same transducers that made the XM3 a success. Compatibility with the LDAC codec will further improve the sound reproduction of wireless headphones. Finally, in terms of autonomy, the manufacturer declares 12 hours of autonomy in classic use, and with a Qi-certified box, this increases to 24 hours. Charging is done through the USB-C port.
