2023 should give pride of place to foldable smartphones, and Vivo intends to position itself in this growing market. We’ve already gotten our hands on the X Fold +, a particularly attractive device whose design is reminiscent of Samsung’s now popular Galaxy Z Fold. Unfortunately, the latter is currently reserved for the Asian market.

The Chinese brand is also working on another model called Vivo X Flip, this time opting for a clamshell format. Slated for the first quarter of 2023, the handset is believed to offer an alternative to the likes of the Galaxy Z Flip or the upcoming Oppo Find N2 Flip.
Various Chinese leakers (including Digital Chat Station) have taken a look at the subject and obtained two sketches of the smartphone. It can be clearly observed from both sides. Ability to see the latest Vivo X90 capture visual codes. An aluminum hinge and a large circular photo island recall the back of the latter.
On its exterior, we observe the presence of a horizontal screen with a width of 682 pixels. It should cover many uses without opening the smartphone. It will have a dual photo sensor and will benefit from the experience of the German company Zeiss, whose logo we can see. Led flash kit accompanies. If the idea of combining more modules seems attractive, it would force a reduction in the size of the sensors that can be felt in the shots.
Perspective external screen
According to this document, the main screen should display a width of 1080 pixels. It’s no surprise that competing smartphones from Samsung, Motorola or Oppo also have Full HD+ display panels. Only Huawei and its P50 Pocket can do better with a resolution of 1188 x 2790 pixels and a very high resolution of 442 ppi.

Above the power button, which should act as a fingerprint reader, we can see the volume buttons on the right edge. While we expect a high-end configuration, no information about the spec sheet has been released yet.
The choice of SoC will be crucial to get good autonomy. Especially something that is always lacking in these models. Some leaks (via the PlayfulDroid site) mention the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which seems pretty logical.
If Vivo has indeed seen the first quarter, we should learn more soon. Whether it’s for China only or an international release remains to be seen.
