here are the new Asus PCs with RTX 4000 sauce

Asus has launched the new Asus ROG Strix and ROG Strix SCAR gaming range. There are panels ranging from 16 to 18 inches, mini LED, Nvidia, AMD and Intel.

Asus used CES as usual to introduce their new ROG PCs. These are the six models launched on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

ROG Strix G16 and G18

We start with RoG Strix G16 and G18. As their name suggests, they combine 16- and 18-inch panels, all at 16:10. You’ll have a choice between FHD+ or QHD+ definitions. In detail, in 16 inches we will find QHD+ or 18 inches, IPS 240 Hz up to 165 Hz mini LED. The screens feature 3ms latency, 100% DCI-P3 area and G compatibility with Sync and Dolby. Don’t see.

To power all this, you will have to rely on Intel Core processors up to i9 and the new RTX 4000 mobile graphics cards. You can integrate up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM at 4800 MHz and up to 2 TB of memory on M.2 . PCIe 4.0

The chassis has been updated for this occasion, and precisely its update will go through three Frost Force fans, a Pulsar cooler and a new solution called Conductonaut Extreme. It is a liquid metal compound deposited on the CPU that promotes heat transfer.

On the connectivity side, there are Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, 2.5 G Lan Jack port. Everything is accompanied by a 720p webcam, as well as a Wi-Fi 6E modem.

With a 90WHr battery and included 330W charging pad, the PC weighs 2.7kg on the 16-inch and 3.3kg on the 18-inch.

ROG Strix G17

Let’s move on to the ROG Strix G17. You won’t be surprised to learn that this is a 17-inch gaming laptop. This time, AMD takes care of the CPU with the Ryzen 9 (model not yet announced) and the new RTX 40 mobile graphics cards. Here again we find ROG’s intelligent cooling ecosystem with the Conductonaut Extreme. The chassis has been updated with a new 720p webcam, while the IO now has an updated HDMI 2.1.

For the IPS display, you’ll have a choice between QHD up to 240Hz in Dolby Vision, 300cd/m² max brightness and 3ms response time, or even an FHD panel with up to 144Hz, 250cd/m² max. Brightness up to 25ms delay.

Autonomy is based on a 90 W battery and a 280 W charger. PD offers up to 100W of power with USB-C. WiFi 6E also includes 2 USB Type-C ports (USB 3.2 Gen 2, DP 1.4). (dGPU) G-Sync) and two UBS type A ports on USB 3.2 Gen 2. Also, pay attention to the presence of a jack.

ROG Strix SCAR 16 and 18 Intel

Now let’s get closer to the ROG Strix SCAR range. On the Intel side, Asus relies on 16- and 18-inch panels with thin bezels: 3.75 mm for an 89% body-to-screen ratio. Here are the details of the tiles on offer:

• 16 inches:
  • QHD+ miniLED, 165Hz, 100% DCI-P3, 1200 cd/m², peak brightness, 3ms;
  • QHD+ IPS, 240Hz, 100% DCI-P3, 500cd/m², 3ms.
• 18 inches:
  • QHD+ IPS, 240Hz, 100% DCI-P3, 500cd/m², 3ms;
  • FHD+ IPS, 165Hz, 100% sRGB, 300cd/m², 7ms.

For power, these Strix SCARs are based on the latest mobile Intel CPUs and the latest Nvidia RTX 40 notebook cards with 150+25W power. They will be helped by up to 64 GB of DDR5 4800 Mhz RAM and up to 2+2 TB of storage in PCIe Gen. 4×4.

To round out this setup, you’ll find up to four Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers. The ports provided by Asus are:

  • 1x USB Type-C (dGPU DP1.4, external G-sync, PD (input: 20V/5A, output: 5V/3A)
  • 1x HDMI (2.1 support), supports HDCP SPEC 2.2
  • 1 combined audio jack: microphone and headphone input.
• Right:
  • 2x USB Type-A USB3.2 Gen2

ROG Strix SCAR 17 AMD

We finish with the ROG Strix SCAR 17 powered by AMD. It will combine a chip with up to 65W of power and up to 55W in turbo mode. Unsurprisingly for the graphics part, NVIDIA packs a 175W (150+25W) mobile GPU. Again, the RAM can be up to 64 GB in DRR5, but at a higher frequency of 5600 MHz. The storage can hold up to 2 TB on PCIe Gen 4×4 at 7000 MB/s and can be slotted for future upgrade if needed. All this is cooled by four dedicated fan outlets, a vapor chamber and liquid metal on the CPU and GPU.

There are no 36 options for display. Asus includes a 17.3-inch IPS panel. In FHD, you’ll go up to 144Hz versus 165Hz in QHD. Dolby Vision is supported.

The battery that drives it all has a capacity of up to 90 Wh and can be charged via the adapter supplied with the device, either in Power Delivery at 100 W or 280 W or 330 W depending on the model.

Here are the prices and availability of the new products.

• ROG Strix SCAR 16 will be available in Q1 2023 for a suggested retail price of €3,999 including tax;
• ROG Strix SCAR 18 will be available in Q1 2023 with a suggested retail price of €3,999 including tax;
• ROG Strix G16 will be available in Q1 2023 with a suggested retail price of €1,699 including tax;
• ROG Strix G18 will be available in Q1 2023 for a suggested retail price of €2,399 including tax;
• ROG Strix SCAR 17 will be available in Q1 2023 with a suggested retail price of €3,799 including tax;
