Dynamic Island on Android? This is now possible
The display design is one of the main new features of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Indeed, in these two models, Apple has finally abandoned the notch in favor of cutouts in the screen that house the front camera as well as the Face ID module for facial recognition.
Apple is lagging behind its rivals because Android smartphone makers have long been lagging behind in their high-end products. However, the Cupertino company has taught all these brands a lesson in software optimization by introducing Dynamic Island.
Indeed, instead of letting cutouts detract from design and ergonomics, Apple uses the space they occupy to enable new software features.
The Android equivalent of Dynamic Island
While we wait for these notches to disappear, perhaps Google or Android smartphone manufacturers will take inspiration from Dynamic Island to camouflage the notches on their device screens in favor of invisible front cameras. After all, brands have always copied each other.
But for now, it’s third-party app developers looking to fill this new void on Android. Although Apple only made its new iPhones and Dynamic Island official a few days ago, a developer has already created an equivalent of this feature for Xiaomi smartphones.
Android is a highly customizable operating system. As for Xiaomi, it even allows developers to create “themes” that change the interface of the MIUI operating system (based on Android).
As reported by Android Authority, a Chinese developer has already created a theme for Xiaomi smartphones that mimics the work of Dynamic Island.

Unfortunately, this is currently a Chinese theme that is not available in French or English. In addition, the developer is still waiting for the green light from Xiaomi so that this new theme can be offered in the brand’s theme store.
But in any case, the video shows that it’s relatively easy for a developer to create Android apps that will offer similar functionality to Dynamic Island on the iPhone. Moreover, other developers are expected to follow suit.
In addition, it should be remembered that even before the introduction of this feature from Apple, there were already applications for camouflaging the notch on the screens of Android smartphones (for example, with a battery meter).

Dynamic island: Apple’s best-kept secret
A few months before the launch of the iPhone 14 series, we knew almost everything about these new smartphones. However, as to how Apple will camouflage the notch at the display level, the first information leaked just a few days before the keynote.
Therefore, unlike other innovations such as the 48-megapixel camera or the replacement of the notch with cutouts in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Dynamic Island was a real surprise.
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, if the name “Dynamic Island” had not leaked to the media, it would have been partly due to Apple registering the trademark in Jamaica. But according to the journalist, “You can only search for trademarks registered in Jamaica by physically going to the country’s trademark and patent office. »
Apple launched the “Dynamic Island” trademark in Jamaica on July 12. This was not detected for an interesting reason: you can only search for trademarks filed in Jamaica by physically visiting the country’s trademark and patent office. Reality Pro trademarks were global.
